I am delighted to invite each one of you to visit our web-page hoping that the available information will be useful and that it will also help you familiarize yourselves with Portugal and our activities in Colombia.

Having already completed three years on post as Ambassador of Portugal to the Republic of Colombia, I have had the privilege to accompany the development of our mutual relations. Plenty of good work has been done in the past few years and I believe there are many reasons to be confident and ambitious about the future of Portugal and Colombia relationship.

Portugal and Colombia maintain for many years excellent political and diplomatic relations. Bilateral relations have continued to widen and more recently other areas were strengthened: economic, commercial and cultural and there is plenty of room to boost and deepen all aspects, without exception, of this mutual beneficial and very friendly relationship.

I have no doubt that the very positive image of Portugal in this country is also due to role played by our Community, which has been steadily growing, the personal and professional examples from each of our Compatriots who live and work here, and who honour us working in this Embassy as we can daily witness good examples of values and ethics.

I invite you to visit our web-page frequently in order to get updated information. This website has the objective of bringing us all, even more, together. Thank you for your interest.

                                                                                                                                                João Ribeiro de Almeida                                                                                                                                                            Embassador

After the unfortunate events of August 9th at Madeira Island, more concretely at the city of Funchal, Tourism of Portugal informs that the touristic activity keeps on going and has returned to normality.

Madeira airport and Funchal sea port are totally operational as well as the other public transports in the Island.

There are some occasional constraints regarding the functionality of some spaces and touristic activities within some limited areas but the majority of the island tours are in perfect use conditions.

Most tourists that had to be evacuated, mainly by precaution, have already returned to their original hotel units and the situation should be totally normalized this afternoon.

The main hotel area of Funchal has not been affected and the only situations of relocation were fully accompanied by the local authorities.

The general mood is of normality and serenity, being a fact that most tourists made different tours among which some excursions, boat trips or even some walks at the city center.

More detailed info about the touristic activities can be seen at the official website of Madeira Islands: www.visitmadeira.pt

Regarding the situation in Portugal mainland we inform that general means of transport as well as the road network are working without constraints.

Also, the touristic activity is running within normality.
